My Top 3 Favorite Vegan Food Swaps

When I decided to hop into a plant based lifestyle (there was no transition about it, I went all in) I realized that I would need to figure out how to make new foods and modify my old favorites.

And sure are there some scary ingredients in some vegan substitute products our there, ABSOLUTELY. Are there some scary ingredients in the original product that everyone eats YES.

I am here to offer some of my new absolute must haves to increase your ability to make the easy healthy choices throughout your day.

Let’s dive in shall we.

Burgers

Morning Start recently released their newly formulated black bean veggie burger to now be 100% vegan.

Previous to this, they used egg white as a binder and now use a wheat compound.

I have never had a veggie burger hold together so well and taste so good.

The spicy chipotle seasonings and amazing texture makes it an easy throw together meal that can be prepped and finished in 15 mins.

My favorite way to make them is in a pan on the stove, this gives me the freedom to season as it cooks, it finishes way faster than if you bake it, and in a pan you can get those good crisp edges.

Cream Cheese

I love a good bagel and cream cheese, like a lot, so when I let go of dairy, that meal went out the window.

I was always wary of vegan cream cheese until I found this brand “Miyoko’s”. The ingredients blew me away as it is just a fermented cashew cheese with some sea salt, that’s it!

Hunter even loves it, so you know it’s a hit.

The texture is amazing and it is so refreshing in the morning with some sprouts or fruit on top.

Milk

There are SO MANY amazing alternative milks around these days that come with great health benefits, but I decided to showcase one that is most likely available to the masses (instead of the obscure cashew milk brand that I am obsessed with but is super sparse).

This Almond Milk is a go to for me, it is great in smoothies and wonderful for baking. I have found that it is one of the smoothest, and most “milk like” brands out there.

PRO TIP: when you are picking out the milk there is many different varieties of this brand “vanilla, original, unsweetened, etc” You might think that original means it has the least amount of ingredients and most health benefits.

Always opt for the unsweetened version, “original” can usually mean added sugars or sweeteners.

Thank you SO MUCH for reading this and hopefully diving into some health swaps in the near future.
