How to be a Source of Light During Times of Hate

It is often said that the eyes are the window to the soul. The repeated raw hatred being displayed before our eyes each and every moment takes a toll.

If you know me, you know that I avoid conflict and turmoil at an almost crippling level. However, when God comes knocking, we all know running doesn’t work very well (I don’t want to end up in the belly of a Lake Superior Muskie for 3 days no thank you)

My desire to be surrounded by joy, light, and life, has driven an obligation to become that during trying days like these.

We all want to be the positive change the world needs and we will all be called to do it differently. Some are peacefully protesting, some are donating, some are using their words, others are doing the small community work.

The hardest work will not be facing the world and all the trials it has to offer, it will be facing the hate you own, recognizing the words and actions you use against others, and putting a stop to it.

“Love your Neighbor” whether you are Christian or not, you have most likely heard this phrase.

It is words like these that need to be proclaimed and remembered now. Listen to those who oppose you, empathize with those of different upbringings and opinions. Hear your neighbors, friends, family, and strangers.

Who you are on instagram and facebook should not be a better example than who you are before others.

Love your neighbor, and love them out loud.
