Salt Lamps, Diffuser Option or Trendy Fail?

Diffusers are expensive not gonna lie and I am ALL about that budget life.  When I heard that you could use a Himalayan Salt Lamp as  diffuser + all the things it did for “cleansing your air” I was in pure skeptic mode……  like hardcore.  I thought for sure this was just another aesthetic trend from the “non toxic” community and nothing more.  Turns out I was SO WRONG and I have now been doing this for a few months and can fully attest, there is something to this and heres the science.

Okay so salt lamps make any room a beautiful soothing color and provide dim light which has thought to have had positive effects on mental health issues like seasonal depression and anxiety um hello (raises hand).

Although some of their “air purifying” claims have been proven false, they are good for one thing and that is getting oils out in the air.

Without looking up any information or even googling the question, I thought to myself “hey since this thing emanates heat, would it project our essential oils along with it? It is the same logic as putting oils on a radiator.

So, one day I added citrus fresh, peppermint, and thieves (my go to’s) to my salt lamp and let it sit all day.  I didn’t really smell anything, but even when I have the diffuser on all day I don’t smell much because I am constantly inside and used to it.

The truth came out when Hunter got home and was like “wooaahhhhh” what all are you diffusing it is so good and strong.  You would have thought I invented the light bulb.  I was like “IT WORKED IT WORKED IT WORRRRKKKSSSSSS”.

I got my salt lamp for $12 at Menards (not the trendiest story but that’s it) and we have used it so much since and now we have a new super cool use for it.

If you already have an expensive diffuser (I do) and now you are kicking yourself for not looking into this, the average coverage of a diffused is only about 250 sq ft.  So if you have a bigger main area to your home or an open floor concept this could be a great thing to add to a rejected corner of your house to up your coverage.

I usually do 2-3 drops of whatever oils I want on the lamp, turn it on and let it sit!

This was short and sweet BUT necessary for those of us trying to up our cheap health products game.

Thanks so much for reading! I hope this was insightful and let me know if you already do this or plan on it!
