Alright Ladies, You are Bound to Numbers and it Stops Here
Alright while yes this post is meant for everyone, ladies, I’m looking at you. We are constantly being marketed to about low calorie, low fat, low sugar, and low everything else. We are told that weight-loss is the goal and 21 day detox diets are the way to go! Well we are going to throw all of that away because here is everything you never wanted to know about losing weight.
If you are just beginning your health journey, you are overwhelmed with counting calories and weighing yourself every morning and eating low fat, low carb, low sugar, everything. You are sinking yourself into an unsustainable process that binds you to numbers and time frames that are unattainable. In less than 17 days you will be back to your old ways because results did not come quick enough. Low and behold, the pounds did not just “fall off” they way they promised.
You need to change your goal. Yup, take that goal weight and throw it out the window. Instead of seeing the number on the scale as your issue, see the joint pain, the bloating, the headaches, stomach pain, fatigue, and physical weakness. These are your issues, these are prohibiting you from being healthy, productive, and healthy.
So what is the new goal, the new goal is to rid yourself of the physical and mental ailments inhibiting your life. “But Annalisa I do have weight to lose and I want to be fit, it’s easy for you to say”. When you begin paying attention to the ways your nutritional improvements can cater to easing your pain, the bi-product will be weight loss (assuming there is weight to lose).
Okay one last tid bit before I quit my rant. Cardio burns calories but lifting burns fat and it is AMAZING for your metabolism. Ladies Ladies Ladies, keep running, hiking, and walking, but that will only get you so far. Go over to the weights (no it’s not just for the men and I don’t care if it makes you feel weird.) pick up something, and lift it. You are allowed to feel strong, and you need to fuel yourself.
Quit binding yourself to an image online, keep your motivation, but I promise you, you will find it in so much more than body checking yourself every time you walk past a store window.
