3 Things I have Learned Since Opening our Coffee Shop

1. Stay Organized

Fun Fact, when you’re mobile, you can’t just run to the back storage room and snag the item you just ran out of. Nope. Each day’s worth of stuff needs to be packed away before you leave.

Organize your milks, syrups, teas, coffee beans, equipment, till, decor, fill the water tank, and for goodness sake do NOT forget dog bowl you set out.

Getting back into a workspace mentality after almost 5 months off was hard. The transition is making me stay more organized in other categories of life and find the motivation to keep with it.

2. You’re Not Perfect

Much to my surprise, turns out…I’m rigorously flawed. You guys, seriously, it is like each day that I remember something, I am leaving something else behind. Be it, macadamia nut milk, ice, syrup refills, or 8oz cups.

But, the wonderful thing about all of these little failures is that in the end, the world didn’t burn down. I think we forget how minuscule our day to day mishaps are. We see them with a magnifying glass, blowing them out of proportion and making them out to be worse than they are.

Try your best, make a list, and go easy on yourself, you’re still learning.

3. People are Good

Hello, Hi, just your friendly reminder, that humanity is not gone. We have only been up and running for a few weeks now, but we are overcome with positivity in the response we have received. The negativity scrolling in-front of us each day is not reality. MOST people are looking for the light, they are showing up with smiles, they are enjoying the day.

It’s true you cannot please everyone, but most of the time, no one is out to ruin your day (especially when you are making their coffee). We love the connections we have made, we love our regulars, and we LOVE seeing the happiness a simple bright purple tea can bring.

I have learned that it’s not over, nothing is ever ruined. Environments, people, and everyday encounters are ever changing.

Thank you for reading my post, drinking our coffee, and supporting the new Northwoods Business.
